Sri Lankan small industrialists to participate in the All India Industrial exhibition in Chennai

Colombo, 14 May, ( Sri Lanka Chamber of Small Industry has organized a 20 member mission to Chennai in a bid to promote trade and service between South India and Sri Lanka in the beginning of June 2006. The first two days are expected to visit ACMEE 2006 an all India Industrial Exhbition organized by the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) and AIEMA Technology Centre at the Chennai Trade Centre where three members of SLCSI would be participating. ACMEE 2006 will be from 8th to 12th June.

These Sri Lankan entrepreneurs would also have a chance of meeting the United Kingdom, Australian, Swiss, Korean and German business people who are also expected to visit ACMEE 2005 in Chennai. ACMEE is expected to provide total guidance for product selection, marketing opportunities, financial arrangements and possibilities of joint ventures.

The SLCSI delegation is expected to meet respective counterparts, one to one business meetings and to discuss possibilities of arranging a representative to take care of our products to be marketed in India and discuss possibilities of joint ventures. SLCSI is also due to sign an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with India – Asean – Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Chenai.

The product profile of the mission is: rubber products, garments, footwear, coir brushes, furniture timer and steel, spices and other food products, ferrous castings, stainless steel and glass household and kitchen equipment, rattan furniture, electrical fittings, steel fabrications, electrical panel boards and steel scrap.

This trade tour is supported by the Department of Commerce and the office of the Deputy High Commission in Chennai and it is led by Aloy Jayawardene, President, SLCSI.
