What did PM Rajapaksa and deposed Ranil discuss for 20 minutes?

Colombo, 02 December, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lankan media and political circles were blacked out on Friday 30 November of the famous meeting between Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa and deposed PM Ranil Wickremesinghe at Parliament Library.

Speculation was rife -and varied- about the content of this unexpected ‘peace-talk session’ between both political giants that lasted for about 20 minutes.

Interestingly the participants were not only PM Rajapaksa and deposed Wickremesinghe MP as reports said but three other MPs were standing very close-by: Malik Samarawickreme, Dinesh Gunawardene and Lohan Ratwatte.

It is known that PM Rajapaksa has informed Ranil Wickremesinghe that he is ready to vacate his Premiership. “It was President Sirisena who said he will find the majority 113 for me and go ahead and sign to be the PM. But if he cannot find the majority, he has to appoint someone else who has the majority. I will go if President Sirisena appoints anyone else as PM. But I am not ready to resign. If President wants to re-appoint you as Prime Minister, our party or myself has no ill-will or anger towards UNP whatsoever” PM Rajapaksa reportedly informed Mr Wickremesinghe.

President Sirisena’s appointment of PM Rajapaksa, deposing the incumbent PM Ranil Wickremesinghe on 26 October has thrown the country into a month-long political turmoil creating many negative economic and international consequences. For more than a month, Rajapaksa has continuously failed as a Prime Minister to show his 113 majority in Parliament.
