President Maithri Personally Involved In Procuring Israeli High-tech Narcotic Detection Equipment

Colombo, 07 April, (Asiantribune.com):

President Maithripala Sirisena will be personally involved in the procurement process of multimillion-dollar drug detection deals, official sources said.

As drug traffickers began to be more sophisticated in smuggling narcotics and other illegal substances over the border, it became increasingly difficult for Sri Lankan authorities to positively locate them.

\To combat this problem, the authorities under the direction of the President sought after Israeli technology that could help them in positively locating narcotics and other contraband that smugglers try to transport across the border and or between states.

Sophisticated technology is used on two of their most popular tools, the Buster K910B Density Meter (aka Buster) and its most recent device, the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection system.

These helpful tools enable law enforcement and CBP agents to locate a wide range of narcotics and other illegal substances that include heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and morphine, official sources said.

The U.S. government will continue to aid the Sri Lankan police in its transition to community-focused policing techniques. The U.S. also expects to continue its support of regional and country-specific training programs, particularly through the Colombo Plan.
