Jaffna Troops Declared Open 700 New Houses For Deserving Families In Jaffna Since 2009

During their journey to support people out of poverty, Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna peninsula made immense contributions to provide shelters for the deserving people.

The 699 th and 700 th house constructed by Troops of 4th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 16th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 551 Brigade with the financial donations made by Mr Kumar Weerasuriya with his colleagues was declared open in Point Pedro and Karaveddi areas.

Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya during a brief ceremony held on Tuesday, 17 December 2019, handed over the fully-equipped houses that were constructed under the supervision of 55 Division, to deserving families.

Accordingly, since year 2009, troops under Security Force – Jaffna have been able to hand over 700 houses including the above newly constructed two houses, for deserving people in Jaffna peninsula.

Government Agent - Jaffna Mr N Vedanayahan , the Consul General of India in Jaffna Mr S Balachandran, General Officer Commanding 55, 51 and 52 Divisions, Senior Officers, Mr Kumar Weerasuriya and his colleagues who donated funds for construction , Troops and Residents were present at the handing over ceremony .
