115 coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka

A total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has climbed to 115, according to the Health Ministry.
Currently, over 190 patients suspected of contracting the virus are under observation at selected hospitals across the country.


Curfew in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutura, Puttalam, Kandy, Jaffna districts to continue and in the other districts it will be lifted at 6 am tomorrow and will be imposed again at 2pm the same day.


A 60-year-old man who was receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda, died yesterday.

It is learnt that the body of the coronavirus victim will not be given to the family, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr Paba Palihawadana said.


Meanwhile, 2 more patients infected with coronavirus have recovered and were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda yesterday.

A total of 9 patients, including 8 Sri Lankans and a Chinese woman, have so far been discharged from IDH after complete recovery.

The Epidemiology Unit said the patients were discharged after a number of tests were carried out to ascertain their complete recovery.

Villages Sealewd Off

Three villages have been sealed off in a measure to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, stated the Army Commander.

Accordingly, 2 villages in Kadayankulam, Puttalam and one village in Akrurana, Kandy have been sealed off in this manner.

The residents in Kadayankulam are to be quarantined for 14 days at a quarantine center set up within Kadayankulam itself, said the Army Commander.
