COVID – 19 Tally for the Day: Sri Lanka 190: World 1,603, 648

Colombo, 10 April, (Asiantribunecom):

One patient has tested positive for COVID-19 today, bringing the number of total cases to 190 in the country, the Health Ministry said.

Three more patients have been recovered from COVID-19 and discharged from hospital, the Health Ministry said.

Accordingly, the total number of recovered patients increased to 49.

More than 250 persons are currently under observation across hospitals in the country.

A 48-year-old male patient died at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) on Wednesday (8), raising the number of deaths caused by the virus to 7 in the country.

He has been identified as a gem businessman, who was a resident of Mt. Lavinia The victim had returned from travelling to Germany after which he was tested positive for the virus.

Health authorities confirmed the seventh death due to COVID19 in Sri Lanka.

Global Tally

In the meantime, More than 1.5 million cases of the COVID – 19 have been registered worldwide, according to a tally compiled by AFP from official sources.

Of the 1,603,648 infections, 95,716 people have died across 192 countries and territories since the epidemic first emerged in China late last year.

The United States, where the pandemic is spreading most rapidly, has recorded 468, 566 cases, including 16,691 deaths.

Spain has declared 153,222 cases with 15,447 deaths, and Italy 143, 626 infections with 18,279 deaths.

Meanwhile Germany is affected with 118,235 infected cases with 2607 deaths and France reported with 117,749 cases with 12,210 deaths.

Today Europe remains the worst hit continent.
