Riyaj Bathiudeen arrested over Easter attacks

Colombo, 15 April, (Asiantribune.com):

Riyaj Bathiudeen, the brother of former Minister and Leader of All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Rishad Bathiudeen, has been arrested on the 14th April, by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The Police said that the suspect was arrested over ongoing investigations into the 21 April 2019 attacks.

Police spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said a special team of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Puttalam this evening arrested Riyaj Bathiudeen in connection with the Easter Sunday attack on 21 April 2019.He is expected to be questioned over several information received in connection to the series of attacks on Easter Sunday.

The arrest was made over alleged links to the Easter Sunday attacks that took place on the 21st of April last year.
Earlier, former Minister Bathiudeen making a statement last May said his brother was questioned by the Mannar Police in relation to the attack and released.

Riyaj had reportedly been arrested by the CID in Puttalam.

In the meantime, earlie, r even Rifkan Bathiudeen, the youngest brother of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and a former member of the Northern Provincial Council, who surrendered to the courts on January 23rd was taken into custody and remanded when he was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on charges of preparing false land deeds and selling two plots of land in Thalaimannar which belonged to another person.
