How will engineering exams affected by Coronavirus in India and abroad?

With the continuous increase in coronavirus cases globally, the Indian government imposed lockdown 2 after the 21-day lockdown till May 3, 2020. Amid the on-going COVID-19 crises, all the schools and universities are closed. Exams, including engineering entrance exams in the country, have been on hold till May. The Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD), managed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), NTA and other educational institutions in the country, want the citizens to be safe first. Hence the announcement for delay of the exams.

Though maintenance of the academic calendar and exam schedule is essential, the safety and security of all the students is a priority. It includes the ones who are appearing for various B.Tech Exams in India in addition to other examinations are also important. Due to the crises, various B.Tech Exams in India have been postponed, which include some of the following as well:

B.Tech Exams In India that are impacted due to Coronavirus.

The B.Tech exams that are impacted due to the outbreak of Corona are mentioned below:

1) JEE Mains 2020 - The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, which is one of the popular B.Tech Exams in India, was earlier scheduled to be held between April 7-12, the National Testing Agency has now rescheduled 2020. The authorities will reveal the dates of the JEE Main Exam post the end of the lockdown period. JEE Main is the entrance exam which even meritorious students from Sri Lanka can take as well as per the official announcement of the Indian High Commission in Colombo. Sri Lankan students can appear for JEE examinations in Sri Lanka itself simultaneously with Indian students on the same day and time. The Sri Lankan students will need a General Certificate Education Examination with A-Level to be eligible. This exam will enable both Indian and other International students like from Sri Lanka to take admission to undergraduate programs across the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and private colleges.For

2) GATE 2020 - The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering exam has announced its results on the official website. The result, scorecard and answer keys are available on the official website. GATE 2020 counselling dates are also out. You have to apply via COAP for IITS and CCMT for NITs, IITS, GFTIs, and CFTIs. The start date for COAP is 19th March, while for CCMT is 29th April. While the counselling dates for admission to M.Tech programs with State Universities through GATE 2020, it is between March - July (tentative). GATE is also available for Sri Lankan students, and has a center in Colombo. Indian Government also offers scholarships to Sri Lankaan students and other SAARC nations to fulfil their education goals.

3) BITSAT 2020 - The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, takes the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) to offer admission to the qualifying students to degree programs. The BITSAT 2020 exam had its schedule between May 16 and 20. The BITS officials recently announced the extension of the other events related to BITSAT 2020 except that of the examination. However, further details regarding the exam are not out; but there are chances of the exam getting postponed due to the pandemic. Also, other institutes are shut due to the spread of the deadly infection in the country. The students appearing for the BITSAT B.Tech Exams in India should visit the official portal regularly to stay updated with the latest information.

4) KEAM 2020 - CEE Kerala has postponed the KEAM 2020 exam amid the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown. The new dates for this B.Tech Exam in India will be announced by the authorities later on the official website. The registration of KEAM 2020, which was closed on February 29, was earlier scheduled to be held on April 20 and 21. Kerala Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM) is a state-level exam organized by CEE Kerala to admit students for B.Tech courses at various government and private colleges in Kerala. The candidates planning to get admission to engineering degree courses in the state must appear for KEAM 2020, which will occur until further notice.

5) VITEEE Exam 2020 - Amid COVID-19, VIT University has rescheduled the VITEEE 2020 and its related events till further notice. Based on the information available on the official website, the deadline to fill the VITEEE 2020 application form, slot booking, exam, result, and counseling has been rescheduled. It will be announced by the university soon. Earlier, the candidates appearing for VITEEE 2020 were allowed to fill the application form till February 22. However, now the university has extended the last date to fill the VITEEE 2020 application form. New deadlines regarding the last date to fill the application form will be announced soon. The move will help reduce the corona outbreak in the country. The students are advised to check the official website regularly to stay updated about essential details.

6) TS EAMCET Exam - Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad has also announced the extension regarding the last date to submit Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture & Medical (Pharmacy, Veterinary, etc.) Common Entrance Test 2020 (TS EAMCET) application form without late fee. The candidates appearing for the exam are allowed to apply until May 5 without a late fee; however,

• The candidates applying with late fee worth INR 500 - Date will be announced.

• The candidates applying with a late fee worth INR 1000 - Date will be announced.

Also, the correction window will be open for the candidates between 6th - 11th May.

The exam previously was scheduled to be held on May 4, 5, and 7, 2020, for Engineering (E) aspirants. And on May 9 and 11, 2020, for Agriculture and Medical (AM) aspirants. But these dates are bound to change so please visit the official website for further updates.

7 COMEDK Exam 2020 - The Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) also announced the delay of the COMEDK 2020 exam date for UGET (Undergraduate Entrance Test). The COMEDK 2020 will now happen in the first week of June. The new dates regarding the same will be announced in the first week of May. The Consortium has postponed the dates of other events as well.

• The registration of the COMEDK UGET 2020 exam has been extended to May 05 from the previous April 17 date.

• COMEDK UGET 2020 admit card will also be the authority on the official website one week before the commencement of the entrance test. Only the candidates who have registered are eligible to download the admit cards till the exam day.

8) AP EAMCET 2020 Exam - AP EAMCET 2020 Exam, which was scheduled to be conducted from April 20 to 24, is also postponed. Also, the registration date for the AP EAMCET 2020 has been extended until April 17 without late fee. The registration process for the entrance exam is slightly slower due to the non-availability of the internet centers, which results in the extension of the dates as well.

According to the trusted sources, AP EAMCET 2020 will be conducted only after the JEE Main April 2020 exam. Since the JEE Main 2020 is expected to be held during the last week of May. AP EAMCET might get delayed further. An official confirmation about the exact date has not been made yet.

AP EAMCET is a state-level entrance exam which is conducted to grant admission into various Engineering, Agriculture and Medical courses. The qualifying students of this test are eligible for entry into various government or private colleges located in Andhra Pradesh state.

8) Tripura JEE 2020 - Amid the outbreak of COVID-19 across the country, the Tripura JEE 2020 exam has also been postponed. The new date will be announced soon. The candidates appearing for the exam are advised to visit the official page frequently. Tripura Joint Entrance Examination or TJEE is a state-level exam taken by the Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination to select eligible candidates for various undergraduate Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries, among other professional courses. The exam initially was scheduled to be held on April 22 – 23, 2020 will now be held later.

9MHT CET 2020 - The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET 2020) taken for granting admission to the engineering courses has also been postponed until further notice. The DTE, Maharashtra, announced that the MHT-CET 2020 exams, which were scheduled from April 13, 2020, to April 23, 2020, have now been postponed till further orders.

The students must visit the official website regularly to get updates and other relevant notifications. The move aimed at taking preventive measures to reduce the further spread of this deadly infection especially when the entire nation-wide lockdown has been imposed government to avoid further spread of the disease

9) GUJCET 2020 Exam - The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have announced that the GUJCET 2020 exam will be postponed due to Coronavirus. The information was mentioned on the official website so that the students can stay updated about the latest information. GUJCET is Gujarat Common Entrance Test taken to grant admission to the Engineering and Pharmacy courses.

Earlier, GUJCET 2020 was scheduled to be held on March 31 in offline mode. The board also released the GUJCET admit card on March 16 for the eligible candidates. The interested and eligible candidates who have duly filled GUJCET application form between January 21 to February 19 will be allowed to give the exam after the lockdown period ends.

10) UUEE 2020 Exam - UUEE, also known as Uttaranchal University Entrance Examination, is taken to admit the students for various bachelors & postgraduate courses in the field of engineering, management, law. The exam, which is expected in the second week of May 2020, might get postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Each year lakhs of the candidates appear for the examination of UUEE 2020 to get admission in their most preferred courses.

Besides the above-mentioned B.Tech Exams in India, many other entrance exams conducted have been postponed. Also, the registration dates for various exams have been extended. The global spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has already made a massive impact on universities and business schools around the world.
