Former LTTE intelligence Agent, Thangarasa Thevanesan, succumbed to burn injuries

Colombo, 09 July, (Asiantribune.com):

The former LTTE Intelligence Agent, Thangarasa Thevanesan, aged 43, who was admitted to the Hospital in Anuradhapura, with 40% body burns, succumbed to his injuries yesterday, early morning.

On the 3rd evening, a powerful bomb, locally made, exploded at the house of the LTTE Intelligence Agent, located 3 kilometers from Palai on the A-9 Road, at the Puliyadi Junction, Iyakachchi, in the Kilinochchi district.

According to a police version, the crude bomb, exploded at his house, when he was meddling with C-4 - the bomb making material and trying to contain it in a Sardine fish can. He sustained multiple injuries.
Immediately, he was admitted to the General Hospital at Kilinochchi and as he sustained serious physical burn injuries and as the medication was not responsive, he was transferred to the Hospital in Anuradhapura.

The wife of the LTTE agent Thangarasa Thevanesan, a school teacher, was arrested, on allegation that she tampered and tried to manipulate the crime scene evidences.

It is further reported that two more persons were arrested

One Ratnasingham Kamalakaran (40) from Ramanathapuram, Kilinochchi, a former LTTE cadre, presently attached to the Civil Defence Services and another from Alaveddy, one Vaithilingham Nirmalathas (38 yrs) arrested at Kodikamam for having telephonic contact with the deceased LTTE agent.
