The Case Against Tiran Alles & Three Others Discharged

Colombo, 11 July, (Asiantribune.com):

After continuing the trial for 14 long years, Colombo High Court yesterday discharged former Chairman of the Reconstruction & Development Agency (RADA) Tiran Alles and three others.

Tiran Alles is a former MP and is a SLPP national list candidate at this year’s General Election.

After considering submissions made by the Attorney General, Colombo High Court Judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi yesterday made an order that the case against the defendants would not continue.

He ordered that the passports of all defendants, except he second suspect Anthony Emil Kanthan, be returned to them and the overseas travel ban on them was lifted.

Meanwhile, Bhanaka Ranasinghe PC, counsel for Emil Kanthan requested court to make null the arrest warrant issued by court. High Court Judge Hettiarachchi however said that the request could be made after producing the defendant in court.
