By Munza Mushtaq - Reporting for Asian Tribune

Colombo, 19 January, (Asiantribune.com): Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) General Manager Ranjith Fonseka who was served a charge sheet on November 25, 2005 by former Power and Energy Ministry Secretary P.Weerahandi yesterday claimed that a 'certain group was conspiring against him because he was not supportive of oil fired power plants.'

On November 25th, Mr.Weerahandi sent out a letter to the CEB General Manager through ex Chairman M. Prelis demanding explanation as to how he was accepting a project allowance amounting to Rs. 14,953 every month sans CEB Board approval and for his misconduct with former Vice Chairman Chula de Silva.

"These oil lobbies are slinging mud at me because they know they can't influence me as I have always been a supporter of coal. They have even hired certain persons from within the CEB to bring discredit upon me," Mr. Fonseka said.
