Pakistan - Afghanistan intensify war of words

By Iqbal Hussain Khan Yousafzai – Reporting from Islamabad

Islamabad, 08 March (Asiantribune.com): Pakistan and Afghanistan have stepped up a war of words in recent days as clashes rage between Pakistani troops and suspected militants on the border dividing the two countries.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has criticised his Afghan counterpart, Hamid Karzai, saying he is unaware of what is happening in his own country.

In an interview with the CNN, the President said that information provided by Afghanistan about activities and hideouts of the Taliban was "old and outdated".

He said that Mr Karzai information that the fugitive Taliban chief Mullah Mohammed Omar was hiding in Pakistan, was not correct.
