Q Perera - Reporting from Colombo

Colombo, 26 October, (Asiantribune.com): The alleged rape of a woman by five persons including two airport security men at the airport has sent shock waves, to the tourists and the woman passengers, especially those female foreign job aspirants.

Some frequent flyers told the “Asian Tribune” that the entire network of the aviation industry is geared to provide maximum security for passengers who use airports to fly to various destinations all over the world.

One of them said that it was unheard that air passengers were raped inside an airport terminal, and it is unbelievable that the airport security personnel were involved in such a dastardly crime, which would definitely reflect on the entire tourist industry which is already limping and ailing due to various constraints now prevalent. This incident was now reported just after the death of the Indonesian woman due to the ramp collided by a lorry, while disembarking from a SriLankan Aircraft.

Those concerned parties pointed out that aviation safety and security measures have to be adopted without lapse, so that women and children could fly from one end of the world to the other end with total confidence.
