[b]Colombo, 17 February, (Asiantribune.com):[/b]The United People's Freedom Alliance, Mayoral candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council Vasudeva Nanyakkara yesterday said the rejection of the United National Party nomination list was the first sign towards the end of 50 years of rightist rule in the Municipality.

Vasudeva Nanayakkara made this observation after handing over nominations lists for the Colombo Municipal Council from the United People's Freedom Alliance.

The UNP nomination list for the Colombo Municipality was rejected due to objections filed by the UPFA.

Sirisena Cooray a senior member of the UNP was nominated as the Mayoral candidate for Colombo. Asath Salley the present Deputy Mayor has been nominated as the Deputy Mayoral candidate of the UNP.
