Colombo, 24 October, (Asiantribune.com): Hamanthota district UNP Parliamentarian and the son of former President Ranasinghe Premadasa - - Sajith Premadasa said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse’s manifesto is “full of carrot” and attractive but way too far fetched.

On the contrary, Premadasa said main Opposition UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s manifesto comprised of far more superior, practical and meaningful programmes.

In an interview with the “Asian Tribune,” Premadasa queried Premier Rajapakse from where he would get funds to implement those projects, after tying up with an ally like the JVP who is in the habit of burning caricatures of the donors like World Bank chief.

“We are very confident that Wickremesinghe will win the election because we have placed a very practical manifesto before the people”, he said.

Hambanthota district is crucial at the November 17 poll. Partly because Prime Minister Rajapakse is hailing from this district hence it is considered his stronghold. On the other hand the JVP too can garner a significant number of youth votes in this Southern district of the country. Young Premadasa too is a popular figure who has followed his late father’s footsteps with lot of development projects aimed at serving the needs of the poorest segment of this underdeveloped area.
