Self-rule meeting “to demand occupying Sinhala forces to vacate land and seas of Northeast with immediate effect”

Sydney, 26 September, (Asiantribune.com): The Tamil self-rule meeting is to be held in Sydney, Australia at the Ryde Civic Centre on 02 October, 2005. The proposed meeting is to be organized by the so called South Pole Federation of Tamil Peoples Association, New South Wales.

According to the organizers, the meeting is being arranged to win the support of the Government of Australia for the self-rule proposal and to retain the loss sovereignty of the Tamil’s homeland in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

The self rule proposal was first put forward by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam at a convention held in Vavuniya.

According to their self-rule agenda, as a first step, Tamil Tigers organized under its very banner a National Tamils’ uprising convention on 27 July at Vairavapuliyankulam Children's Park in Vavuniya to spell out their self-governing proposal.

At the Tamil National Resurgence Convention, it was proclaimed that an environment must be created to enable Tamils to decide their political destiny by demanding that the “occupying Sinhala forces must vacate the land and seas of the Northeast with immediate effect.”

Tamil National Resurgence Convention held at Vavuniya appealed that the international community could no more ignore the genuine struggle for their lost sovereignty and must collectively endorse their proclamation and added “we fervently hope that the civilized world community would act now in the proper direction.”

In line with the resolution adopted at the Vavuniya convention, LTTE’ proxy organizations and its supporters in Australia have decided to hold a public meeting in Sydney, New South Wales, to appeal to the Government of Australia and to the international community that it could no more ignore the genuine struggle for their lost sovereignty and must collectively endorse their proclamation and added “we fervently hope that the civilized world community would act now in the proper direction.”
