By Iqbal Hussain Khan Yousafzai - Reporting from Islamabad

Islamabad, 18 March, (Asiantribune.com): Pakistan Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has disclosed that only seven Pakistanis were still languishing in the US military detention centre at the Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The US officials had provided details about Pakistani detainees during President Bush’s recent visit to Pakistan, he said.

Mr. Sherpao stated that no Pakistani national was imprisoned at Iraq’s Abu Ghuraib jail but seven Pakistanis were still detained at the US military detention centre at Guntanamo Bay.

Interior ministry sources said that over seven names of Pakistani prisoners exist in the list of Guantanamo Bay inmates provided by the US officials among which no one was most wanted to Pakistan. Negotiations are underway for their return, they added.
