Sinhalese in the South are our brothers and sisters.........

Sinhalese in the South are our brothers and sisters and no one has asked us to leave the South.

“Let us go together to Colombo with log books and tape recorders in our hands and record what the southern Tamils have to say. I am prepared to bet my last dollar, that almost all will tell you, “Go fly a kite Chandran, or jump into the Jaffna lagoon, as these Sinhalese are our brothers and sisters and no one has asked us to leave the south,” invites Asoka Weerasinghe from Canada.

In a letter Asoka Weerasinghe further underlined that none of the Tamils living in the South of Sri Lanka, in the midst of the Sinhalese are willing to leave either to Tamil Eelam or to any Western countries to seek asylum.

“None of us want to go and live in your Eelam either, nor do we want to get on a plane and land in a western country and cheat our way as refugees, because we are not refugees. We live well, eat well, and work well. It couldn’t be better. We love it here and the Sinhalese are our best friends.”

“ Do you want to take me up on that! I challenge you, Chandran. Tell me a date and the flight number; I will meet you at the airport with a tape recorder and a log book in hand.”
