[b]Colombo, 11 December, (asiantribune.com):[/b] The country's pre dominant Muslim party, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has sought an appointment from President Mahinda Rajapakse to discuss the recent volatile situation prevailing in the North and East provinces.

The Muslim Congress during this anticipated meeting hopes to impress up the need for the Government and security forces to provide continuous protection to the Muslim community living in these provinces, following the recent disturbing incidents, including killings allegedly by the LTTE , SLMC member Nizam Karriapper told ”Asian Tribune.” Letter seeking an appointment from the President has already been sent, and the party is awaiting a favorable response.
