[b]Colombo, 15 February, ([/b] The extension of emergency regulations that was imposed six months ago following the assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshaman Kadirgamar was passed in the Parliament on Tuesday without any vote.

The Members of the Tamil National Alliance were who used to charge the Government for using emergency regulations to harass the Tamil civilians were not present in the House yesterday to make their voice heard in the Parliament.

The only Tamil MP who spoke against the extension of emergency for another one month was the Colombo district UNP MP T. Maheshwaran.
