Tamil radio relay program from TBC is back again in SLBC

London, 03 November, (Asiantribune.com): The direct broadcast of programs transmitted by the London based Tamil Broadcasting Corporation is back again in the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation from 01 November.

The TBC’s one hour program is now available to Sri Lankan listeners from 8PM to 9 PM, daily in the evenings.

The relay of the one hour Tamil program called Oorodu Uravadu from London based TBC was suddenly discontinued by the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation on 17 July 2004, without attributing any reasons.

It was later learnt that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the Tamil rebel out fit took exception to the TBC relay program and complained to the Norwegian peace facilitators that the TBC’s relay program was hostile to them and requested them to urge the Sri Lanka Government to discontinue with the program.

Subsequently on the insistence of the Norwegian peace facilitators the program was discontinued on the orders of the Sri Lanka’s Presidential Secretariat.
