New Delhi, 02 April (Asiantribune.com): The bugle has been sounded in Tamil Nadu’s electoral battle. Big and small players have already begun to make the rounds of the constituencies braving the summer that has set in full vigor.

Jayalalithaa Jayaram, who is seeking a second consecutive term as the chief minister, too has hit the road though her main rival the aging DMK patriarch, Muthavel Karunanidhi is still engrossed in his strategy sessions. Over the next one month, Jaya 'Amma' effort will be to make in roads into the rival’s pockets and thereby nullify the adverse effects of anti-incumbency syndrome she has.

Jaya appears to bank on two factors; First an in-house Congress survey that the AIADMK had overcome the 'negatives' of her 'misrule' that had resulted in severe drubbing in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. Second the adverse comment DMK poll sops like free colour TV, rice at Rs 2 per kg and reservations for some sections.
