New Delhi, 10 February ( Tamilnadu political parties are getting ready for the D-day in April-May. First to be off the block is Jayalalithaa Jayaram, the chief minister and AIADMK supremo, who has announced a series of sops for the government employees.

Obviously she has learnt from the discomfiture suffered by Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP leader in neighboring Andhra Pradesh who had antagonized the employees as the chief minister and had to pay the price of being booted out.

Jayalaithaa was harsh with the employees four years back. And the employees' and their families openly worked to see the AIADMK defeat in the 2004 Lok Sabha election. The loser in the case was the BJP, which had aligned with Jaya nursing the ambition of a renewed mandate to rule India.

Jaya has since restored all the concessions she had withdrawn and reinstated most of the dismissed employees.
