[b] Colombo, 05 December, (Asiantribune.com):[/b] A total of seven Sri Lankan soldiers were killed on Sunday on two separate incidents in Jaffna according to the Army sources ‘without any provocation,’ allegedly by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the Sri Lankan Tamil separatist terrorist organization.

Earlier, 06 Sri Lankan soldiers were killed around 1.00 P.M. on Sunday, when Army troops traveling in a tractor were attacked by the LTTE, exploding two claymore mines set by wayside on the Jaffna – Palaly main road at Kondavil, about six kilometers away from the Jaffna town.

Six soldiers died on the spot in this attack and one more soldier was seriously injured. The seriously injured soldier was airlifted to Colombo for immediate surgery.

Soldiers who were killed were identified as Sergeant P.R. Ananda of Serunuwara, soldiers R.A. Nihal Chandrasiri of Ganemulla, E.M.Priyantha of Anamaduwa, A.M.L.S.Nawaratane of Nochchiyagama, K.G.C. Ruwan Kumara of Elayapattuwa and S.S.Ratnayake of Anuradhapura.

In another incident near Neerveli 16 kilometers away from Jaffna, Pvt. Abeyawardana attached to 511 Brigade Atchuveli, while returning to the camp with his fellow soldiers was shot by a group of LTTE militants in hiding last evening and succumbed to his injuries while he was rushed to the Palaly Military Base hospital.
