Colombo, 15 November, (Asiantribune.com): With the country going to polls on November 17, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse’s Chief Campaign Manager said the Premier would garner an “unexpected” number of minority votes from the Eastern province and the upcountry areas.

Basil Rajapakse said despite CWC Leader Arumugam Thondaman’s decision to back the Opposition Leader’s bid for the Presidency; there are other members in the party who vowed to support him secretly. He refused to name them saying election results will do the talking.

Rajapakse said the estate sector community has got the best ever deal they ever had from Premier Rajapakse’s manifesto. Citing to a host of benefits for the upcountry workers in Mahinda Chinthana, Rajapakse said told the “Asian Tribune” that for the first time the estate sector people will get their own block of land in place of the pathetic line houses that they are living in. “A separate authority will be established to look into the needs of the Up-country people like infrastructure, water, electricity and job security”.
