[b]An unknown auxiliary force claims responsibility for the killing or 15 Sri Lanka Navy sailors.[/b]

[b] Colombo, 24 December, (Asiantribune.com) :[/b] Hitherto unknown organization called itself “Mannar District Resurgence People Force,” suspected to be one of the many auxiliary forces of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, has claimed responsibility for the claymore bomb attacks, Friday at 1.30 PM, on a bus and truck at Pesalai, 15 kilometers Northwest of Mannar, which led to the killing of 15 Sri Lankan Naval troops.

(The number of Sri Lanka Naval troops killed on 23 December is yet to be officially confirmed.)

The news item claiming responsibility of the attacks was carried very prominently in the LTTE Tamil news websites – Puthinam.com, Nitharsanam.com, Sangkathi.com, etc.

Mannar District Resurgence People Force claimed responsibility for the claymore attacks. It further claimed, that was a revenge killing on the abduction, sexually molesting and killing of Ilayathamby Tharshini (20), by the SL Navy personnel in the High Security Zone, in the ‘Islands region’ and whose body was recovered from an abandoned well in Punguduthivu Saturday 17 December.
