Vaiko says bye-bye to Karunanidhi, embraces Jayalalithaa

By M Rama Rao in Delhi

New Delhi, 05 March ( Amidst indications that he was guided as much by ground realities as advisory from LTTE, Vaiko aka Gopalasamy, the MDMK chief ended all speculation about his political plans and inked an electoral pact with arch rival Jayalalithaa Jayaram. The AIADMK supremo, as usual, was magnanimous in welcoming the very person she had kept in jail for over two years under the draconian anti-terrorist laws for his publicly known affinity with the LTTE boss Velupillai Pribhakaran.

"We are here to speak on a positive note and not to look back into the past", she told a questioner at her joint press conference with Vaiko after he met her at her fortress like house in Chennai. She knows that with Vaiko in her alliance, she could hope to gain a foot-hold in southern Tamilnadu.
