WAPS demand that Norway quit as peace-maker if it can’t be impartial and fair by all communities

Colombo, 21 August, ( The World Alliance for Peace in Sri Lanka (WAPS) has written to Kjell Magne Bondevik, the Norwegian Prime Minister, saying that it is not good enough to condemn the assassination of Lakshman Kadirgamar, the Foreign Minister, but by deed must name the perpetrators and condemn them unequivocally.

The LTTE has never admitted any of its killings. They have always maintained a silence or issued denials despite leaving Tiger paw marks all over the slain bodies.

Dr. D. Jayasuriya, President of Society for Peace Unity and Human Rights (Australia) writing on behalf of WAPS, has said that Norway must quit if it can’t fulfill its role impartially. He added: “The LTTE must be listed as a terrorist organisation in Europe and sanctions have to be imposed on the LTTE.”

Pointing out that Norway can be held responsible for the assassination of Kadirgamar by the LTTE Dr. Jayasuriya presents the following demands of WAPS:

(1) Immediately stop all LTTE fundraising in Norway and Norwegian aid to LTTE or to their front organisations. It is well documented and confirmed by the Norwegian LTTE leader Y. Balasingham and the Norwegian TCC leader that some of the funds raised in Norway are used for “military” purposes.

(2) Immediately stop all payments to the LTTE through the Norwegian aid agency “Norad”

(3) stop funding LTTE propaganda trips

(4) Norwegian military must abstain from inviting members of the LTTE to their bases or provide any type of military training to the LTTE
