From our Colombo Correspondent

Colombo, 15 February, (Asiantribune.com): Parliamentary group leader of the People's Liberation Front (JVP) and Colombo district MP Wimal Weerawansa told the Parliament that the task before the Government delegation at the Geneva talks was a challenging one as they are entrusted with the responsibility of not jeopardizing national security when dealing with the Liberation Tigers.

Weerawansa, who won the hearts of Sinhala masses for his stand against the LTTE at the political platform, participating at the extension of the emergency debate in Parliament, said their party was satisfied with the way the President and the Government handling the Ceasefire Talks.

"The Government delegation is far more experienced when compared with the LTTE delegation comprised of those who engaged in killings in the jungles of Wanni and headed by a person who enjoys luxury life in London along with his Autrailian born wife", Weerawansa said expressing his view on the Government delegation to Geneva.

He said as a party which opposed peace negotiation with the Liberation Tigers, was now in a position to support the process due to the method followed by the President and the Government.

The Government team had consulted their party, the People's Liberation Front, on the peace negotiations and has also obtained the expertise from internationally acclaimed professionals on the subject of peace negotiation.
